Hey, I’m Vaidehi (Nini)!

I recently graduated from Carnegie Mellon University, with a Master’s in Human-Computer Interaction, and I hold a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry from Tufts University.

Before diving into UX, I spent years in scientific research, from building contraptions for firefly conservation research at Harvard to conducting breast cancer research with live cells at Dana-Farber. These hands-on research experiences taught me to think creatively, design unbiased, iterative experiments, and critically evaluate data—skills I carry into UX research. Most importantly, scientific research has instilled perseverance and curiosity in me, qualities I am proud to bring to any team and organization I join.

I moved into UX seeking more human connection and real-world impact. So, I jumped into the startup world, joining a healthcare startup focused on PCOS management. Starting in Sales, I learned to listen to and empathize with users and communicate their needs to the product team. I eventually joined this team, where I conducted user interviews and helped shape a new service model that increased subscriber retention by 14%.

At CMU, I gained formal training in UX Research, Service Design, and Persuasive Design. I worked on projects like increasing adoption of Pittsburgh Parking Authority’s Smart Loading Zone program and innovating a ready-meal service for Giant Eagle. My capstone was an 8-month project with Consumer Reports’ Innovation Lab, where I led UX Research and honed skills in client management, collaboration, and storytelling.

Overall, I’m a curious and collaborative UX Researcher skilled at translating user needs into actionable insights that drive impact. With my mix of academic training and diverse experiences, I excel at synthesizing complex information, identifying key insights, and championing the user’s perspective.

Outside of work, I enjoy listening to podcasts, reading articles about science, culture and politics, and going on nature walks (especially in spring when the bees and bugs are out!). My love for nature began with firefly research in the fields of Newton, MA, and it remains my favorite way to spend summer evenings.
